Name: Raven

Gender: Female

Age: 2 years

Breed: Grey wolf

Loyalty: Hemmawhihio Believer

Picture: [image]

Personality: Raven is a wolf of few words most days. She finds it difficult to trust others, and is naturally nervous around male wolves and man-made constructs. She is often extremely defensive and easily set off, but she tries to work on her social skills as much as she can. She yearns for the companionship of a pack, but is wary of trusting one. Despite her misgivings, she has a severe sense of loyalty, and once she finally trusts someone, she’ll go through nearly anything for them, and it takes a lot to break it. But her trust, once broken, is not something easily, if ever, regained. To hide her fears, she often cushions herself with a pessimistic and sarcastic commentary on life in general, and can often be heard rambling on to herself about how annoying everything is. She believes in the great spirit, but has a hard time fitting in to the newfound society, and favors the primal mannerisms of the old ways, even if she doesn’t agree with the non-conformist’s methods. Raven is rather clever, and a good hunter, but has a tendency to lose where she’s at when tracking something.

Description: Raven’s fur is the shade of raven’s feathers, from which she takes her name. Her eyes are a bit strange, as she has retained the dark, grayish-blue shade from her puppyhood, for which she is sometimes ridiculed.

History: Raven was born last in a three pup litter, late in the season. She lived a fairly normal puppyhood, despite being frequently scolded for running off. She did however experience a traumatic run in with a male wolf of another pack when she was an older pup. She had wandered into another pack’s territory, and was attacked by one of the pack’s sentinels. Luckily, her father rescued her just in time, as she was still near the border of the two territories. She’s been nervous around males ever since. Raven was once again wandering when she was captured by the humans and transported to the island, now there, she has become increasingly interested in the new society, and has nearly worked up the courage to join a new pack. Unfortunately, Raven has a hard time following orders, and no interest in taking a mate, which leaves her in a difficult spot.

Example of role-playing(IC): I crouched, low to the ground as the scent filtered through my nostrils. What a wonderful scent it was; simplistic, coursing with red life and fine flesh. The rabbit sat munching, unawares.
It was beautiful, that game of wolf and rabbit. He would sit munching, and I would sit stalking, waiting for some signal that might never come. Who knew? Those furry paws might run another day. For now I was content to watch, sated with the knowledge that I could kill him any minute.
But what was I, if no more than a rabbit? I too could be killed at any time. Perhaps the branch above me might fall? Bash my skull into fragments, and I would be left a bloodied patch of fur, forgotten by the world. Decayed into grass for the rabbit to consume; who’d be laughing then?
Muscles tightened, I sprang forward. Sharp canines dug into flesh. I felt the soft brown fur against my face, as blood ran over my tongue. I grinned as only a wolf can; “Wolf won the game today,” I growled. “wolf won the game today.”

Note: this is Raven in one of her intense, crazy, philosophical moments she gets into, which is mostly internal monologue. No, I don’t do this all the time, but it was begging to be let out. Can’t deny the writing muse… that’s dangerous.
